EPIDEMIOLOGY OF HUMAN NEMATHELMINTHS IN KOREA.

Abstract
Ten species of human nemathelminths have been reported in Korea; Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichocephalus, trichiurus, Enterobius vermicularis, Ancylostoma duodenale, Necator americanus, Trichotsrongylus orientalis, Strongyloides stercoralis, Thelazia callipaeda, Dracunculus medinensis and Brugia malayi. The first 7 species are soil-transmitted nematodes, and the other 3 species are related with arthropods. From the epidemiological viewpoint, the soil-related parasites are the predominant species in Korea. For this reason, the ecological characteristics and control measures are described with greater emphasis placed on the first 7 species.
